Define the source of truth
When multiple systems store the same information, decide where each field is maintained. Agree on record identifiers to prevent duplicates or overwriting newer data.
Design for failure
APIs may slow down or disconnect. A workflow needs bounded retries, records of completed steps, and a way to notify an owner when it cannot recover.
Keep work visible
Operators need to see the latest run, processed data, and failure reasons. An understandable execution history is often more useful than adding more automatic branches.
